Mr. Silvera Castro, is a distinguish past student who entered the
institution when STATHS opened its doors to the first batch of
students in 1961.
After leaving STATHS he pursued higher education and obtained
Certification in Public Speaking at Jamaica Institute of Management
and later pursued studies in Personnel management and Industrial
Relations at the University of Technology.
He has worked in various position at a number of places. He was
Personnel Manager at Caribbean Cement Co. Ltd. & Goodyear
Jamaica Ltd; Personnel Assistant and Personnel and Industrial
Manager at Caribbean Steal Company Ltd. He is Currently the
Senior Industrial Relation Officer at Caribbean Cement Co. Ltd.
He has been actively involved in Business House Football
Association, where he served as President (1984- 87). His public
records includes service to the Jamaica Cultural Development
Commission (JCDC) for over 30 years; Adjudicator for several parish
and national events - Festival Song Contest, Festival Queen Contest
and Jamaica Music Awards (1987-90) He has served on the Advisory
Committee for Technical Education and he Currently serves on the
Teachers Services Commission and the Minimum Wage
Commission. He as also served on the Board of Directors of the
Jamaica Co-operative Credit Union League Limited.
His service extends to Chairman of many School boards which
includes his Alma Mata of which he is Currently the Chairman Board.
He has a heart for students and have assisted many in finding
places in High School and have provided funds for a large number
of them for over 25 years. He had was awarded the National Honour
of Order of Distinction
(00), August 6, 2005.
