| Overview |
A scholarship is an award of access to an institution or a financial aid award for an individual, a "scholar", for the purposes of furthering their education. Our scholarships are awarded based on the criteria, which reflect the views and purposes of the STATHSNE Alumni Association and the St. Andrew Technical High School. Scholarships are granted to STATHS students, selected from the present student body by the Alumni Selection Committee, the Principal and members of the school's academic staff. Selection is based on academic qualifications, attendance and financial need. Today, students are finding it more and more difficult to pay for their high school educations. With registration fees – and the books, transportation, food and other necessities – students are finding exceedingly challenging to attend school. Alumni Scholarships, ranging from US$300 to Us$500, can ease financial obligations so that students can focus on what is important to them and to STATHSNE: at first class education. Started in 2006, the Association has awarded scholarships to 32 students, with a total value of twelve thousand two hundred US dollars. It is our goal each year to identify and award a number of scholarships from our scholarship fund to students meeting criteria outlined above. For the 2009-2010 academic year the Association awarded eight scholarships totaling US$4,500. |
