Some of Jamaica's top Dancehall Artistes will team up with popular
cable television station RE TV again this year, to promote safe sex
to High School Students. The project, dubbed The RE High School
Tour, has become one of the most eagerly anticipated events on the
high school radar, and is set to kick off on October 11 for a six week
run.

This year, entertainers such as Jovi Rockwell, Busy Signal, Alaine,
Red Rat, Voice Mail, TOK, Vegas, Lefside and Esco, Bling Dawg, Kip
Rich, Cezar, Wayne Marshall, Tami Chynn, Black-er and new deejay
on the rise, Terro 3000, will entertain and spread the message and
objectives of the tour. PJ Wright, Promotions Manager for RE High
School tour explained that, "The artistes that we choose to work with
on the high school tour are those who have hit songs or songs that
the high school students are familiar with. They have to alter their
songs and display clean lyrics to assist with getting the message out
there." The objective of the school tour is to enhance the message
of abstinence from sex.

Wright explained "The main objective is to utilise entertainers who
the teenagers see as role models, to try and send a positive
message of abstinence and/or safe sex". He further added, "We
usually visit the schools after making prior arrangements with the
school authorities, and the artistes perform and talk to the students
about the importance of not having sex at an early age. For those
who are having sex, we tell them to practise safe sex. It's basically
entertainment mixed with education."

RE High School tour is being promoted by 360 Productions. The tour
is endorsed by the Ministry of Health and is in association with
Jamaica Aids Support. "The tour is really for the students at the high
schools. The Ministry of Health has told us that it's the best way to
get the message of abstinence and safe sex to that demographic of
students", explained Wright.  Read more
