Merline Clarissa Daley JP, CLU, and ChFC '65

Merline Clarissa Daley, was born in Kingston Jamaica and holds the
distinction of being one the first STATHS attendees, the first Head
Girl and a member of the first graduating class. She is a graduate of
learner.
Insurance and Financial Advisors (JAIFA) as MEMBER OF THE YEAR
for 2008. She is a 22-year veteran of the Industry, who completed
basic training and qualified as a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU),
within her first five years. In this business, she continued to grow in
grace, knowledge, and in service. Ms Daley has participated at every
level of the industry, training as Student, Valedictorian, Moderator,
Invigilator, and General Education Council Member attaining the
Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) designation in 2001 and the
title of Senior Life Underwriter in 2005.
Production and quality business achievements have included Silver
and Gold Club awards. Director of the Life of Jamaica Production
Club, Super Producer (1988), Caribbean President's Award (1988),
Caribbean Quality Awards (1988-2004), Caribbean Sales
Achievement Award (1990-98 and 2000-2005), Life Member of the
Million Dollar Round Table (1988-98), and Court of the Table in
2005.
In 2004, she was her company's top female agent, winning the
Pansie Bisnott and Pansie Ennevor Trophies. She has been an
Association leader, a Senator in the Junior Chamber of Commerce,
and a Charter Member of the Lions Club (1988). She was Chairman
of the JAMAL FOUNDATION (1979-82), and a member of a special
Local Government Committee (2008), to revise the Councilors'
Handbook, to bring into focus new trends and best practices. She
has represented the Kingston and St. Andrew Corporation KSAC) on
the Municipal Services Commission since 2004, and is a current
Board Member of MID A and other similar organizations. Ms. Daley
is also a Justice of the Peace, on the Executive Board of the St.
Andrew Justices of the Peace and Lay Magistrates. She was General
Secretary in 2004 to 2006.
She has sewed as a KSAC Councilor for some 18-years. Becoming a
special trainer and recognized authority on local government reform
issues. As a participant in a Local Government Exchange between
the Municipality of Coventry, in the United Kingdom, and Jamaica,
(1988) our Guest Speaker was hailed by the Council of Coventry and
its citizens, as a distinguished ambassador for Jamaica and for
Local Government representation.
She is a member of the Jamaica Labour Party, was appointed
Chairman of her party's Area Council in 1998 and has been the
party's Political Training Officer, for many years. She has been a
member of the St. Andrew Business and Professional Women's
Club, for more than 25 years, and Vice President of the Jamaica
Women's Political Caucus. Without swearing allegiance to any
foreign power, she was made an Honorary Citizen of Indianapolis,
Fort Wayne and Rensellier, in the USA, receiving Keys to the City,
for outstanding representation of Jamaica and the West Indies, and
successful fundraising at the national Junior Chamber Convention,
1981-83.
