Dr. Lorenzo Gordon M.D. PhD '77
|
Lorenzo Gordon came to Kingston to attend Cockburn Gardens
School. Upon passing the then known "Technical Entrance"
examination he attended St. Andrew Technical High in 1973.
One could always sense something different, something special or
something comedic was going to happen with each meeting with
Lorenzo. He has always had a pleasing personality and the voice of
a genuine soul.
Idikoko was the name we adopted for him from a character he
portrayed from the school play "The Game." Lorenzo was a joy and
friend to all students.
His scholastic success includes being a pioneering member of our A
level program, a graduate of the University of the West Indies with
a Bachelors degree in Bio Chemistry, a Masters Degree in Diabetes
Biochemistry and a Doctorate in Diabetology. In addition to this
wholesome resume he attained his Medical Degree from the
University of Havana.
Lorenzo's involvement in school activities as a student has covered
the Drama Group, The Science and Arts Group as well as being
House Captain of Worrell.
After graduating from STATHS he has served as a School Board
Member, Committee Chairman at the School Bakery and is Currently
President of the STATHS Past Students Association in Jamaica.
Lorenzo's day is as always full of activities starting with his private
practice, maybe a shift at The University of the West Indies Hospital
or Kingston Public Hospital. Lorenzo also is an Adjunct Lecturer in
the Department of Sports at The University of Technology.
His social calendar includes membership with the Caribbean
Diabetes Association of Jamaica, The International Diabetes
Federation and the Jamaica + Cuba Alumni Association.
I also understand that Lorenzo has been officially registered as the
school physician, a decision and choice made by the current STATHS
student body without his knowledge.
Lorenzo's family life includes his wife Shauna, son Shaun 12 years
old and daughter LorenIO years old
Join me in taking this moment in welcoming Lorenzo to our annual
event and expressing our sincere gratitude for his efforts to our
school.
