S.W. Isaac-Henry: Principal 1969 - 1990
Primary School, his Alma Mater, the Mico, the Stony Hill Industrial
School and Kingston College, where he spent twenty years. In 1969,
after a brief stint as a Senior Education Officer, he took up the
Principalship of St. Andrew Technical High School.  The Mico is not the
only institution of higher learning that felt the indomitable presence
of S. W. Isaac- Henry. He also made his presence felt at the
University of London, obtaining a B.Sc. in Economics and at Edinburgh
where he obtained a Diploma in Education.

Isaac-Henry was not only a brilliant teacher; he was also a unique
disciplinarian.  He was firm, but tempered his strong methods of
discipline with an acute sense of humour blended with a genuine
concern for the students. As an administrator, he was in a class by
himself, a cut above the rest. He was keen and conscientious and
literally built STATHS into an Oasis in the desert of the city's west
end. He paid strict attention to every minute detail, planning and
monitoring every step carefully. He left nothing to chance. Is it any
wonder he was a living legend among his peers?

But who was Stafford Wycliffe Isaac-Henry? Educator extraordinaire
and administrator “par excellence” He stood tall, above average
men, brave among the cowards and strong where other men proved
weak. He had what was needed to do the job and he did it well.  His
monumental achievements in the field of education and other areas
cannot be quantified. Some of these are visible like the
amalgamation of the Trade Training Centre and the High School to
form what is now STATHS and the important breakfast programme.
However, who can evaluate or place a price on the service he gave
the many whose lives he rescued from the edge of despair and
hopelessness?

S.W. Isaac-Henry served as the Principal of STATHS until his death.
No tribute can be too glowing for the man who was described as "a
rough 'diamond" with a "heart of gold". Those whose lives he touched
will long remember his undying interest in humanity.  His imposing
figure no longer graces the grounds of STATHS, his second home. He
lived his life and "filled the unforgiving minute" with more than "sixty
seconds worth of distance run".

      STAFFORD WYCLIFFE ISAAC-HENRY stands tall.
On May 29, 1924, the little village of
Banbury, St. Catherine a    welcomed little
bundle of joy called Stafford  Wycliffe
Isaac-Henry. Like all other children then, he
attended the Elementary School where he
soon displayed his brilliance. By age fifteen,
he passed the first, second and third year
Pupil Teacher Examinations. Having
accomplished this remark- able feat, he
then taught at the school as a Pupil Teacher
for three years.

In 1944 he entered the Mico College and
graduated from that institution in 1946 as an Honours man, taking
the coveted Duff's Memorial Prize for the most out- standing member
of his batch. He also excelled in sports, especially football, cricket,
lawn and table tennis, bridge and dominoes.
